Concrete Textiles Prototypes

During my research assistance on concrete textiles for the Department of Structural Design at RWTH Aachen, we did two prototypes of a double-curved dome shape consisting of (4*9 individual pieces). The two segments we fabricated are supported by carbon textiles instead of typical steel for better reinforcement. The advantage of this technique is that we were able to produce very thin (30mm) surfaces that can easily span long distances. The connection between the individual segments is done by epoxy resin joints.
